Violet Meets the Light began in the back room of a small pub in Grenoside, Sheffield.
Libby Shaw and Dan Campbell were half of an ill-fated punk rock group that never got off the ground. When the dust settled, they decided they weren’t quite ready to quit yet.
Bassist Josh Rearden was one of the few people who had heard them play. When he learned they were looking for new bandmates he approached Dan and wangled himself the job.
Sam Morris answered their ad for a lead guitarist and the mighty foursome was born.
Influences
Violet never really lost their roots as a punk-influenced band, though that has been tempered by Celtic Rock, a little bluegrass and the hypnotic drum style of Tool’s Danny Carey. The result is a fusion you’ve probably never heard before but will leave you coming back for more.
